Attorney Demands Release of Deputy Candidate

Tbilisi. Media News. Davit Khazhalia, attorney of Jumber Tavartkiladze, who is a member of the Union of the Unity of Georgia is going to apply to the regional court of Batumi demanding the release of Jumber Tavartkiladze from three months pre-detention.

As Khazhalia stated, Tavartkiladze is due to participate in the inter parliamentary elections of 24 October and should be released to be able to hold pre-election campaigns

Tavartkiladze was registered as a candidate on September 13. His opponent will be Temur Cheishvili, former governor of Didube district and now candidate of the National movement.

To remember, Jumber Tavartkiladze had been detained about a month ago together with 12 other persons during an operation intended to disperse an action held in Batumi on the central market place. All of them were sentenced by the court of Batumi to three months pre-detention.
