The Oil Spill in Sagarejo Provoked Water Pollution

Tbilisi.30.09.04.Media-New. Chemical-Bacteriological pollution has been discovered in one of main building of Sagarejo (district in the East Georgia) drinking water supply, which was provoked by oil spill in Ninotsminda (village in Sagarejo district).

According to the statement of the Ministry of Environment, the mentioned water supply building is already totally cleaned from oil.

According to their information, the specialists of Nuclear and Radiation Institute held radioactive measuring works in Ninotsminda and in Tskarostavi and established that the bore hole was not increased.

As for the land, it’s polluted near the bore hole. Among agricultural cultures, vineyard and fruit trees were polluted.

The oil was spilled on September 10 during the reparation activities at the 100th bore hole of Georgian-Britain Company “Ninotsminda.”
