NGOs Confront “Adjara P.S”

Batumi.11.11.04.Media News. On November 11, the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper “Adjara P.S.” and journalists spoke about aggressive activities of some NGOs and stated that freedom of speech is in danger in Adjara.

“Freedom of speech has been endangered in Adjara by several NGOs which are backed by the representatives of the local government” – stated Tariel Katamadze, Editor-in-Chief of the “Adjara P.S.”.

According to the journalists threats to the newspaper are being made by the Anti-corruption Council, Young Journalists’ Association and other NGOs. The reason is that the newspaper took an interest in financial resources of the NGOs established after the Rose Revolution in Batumi.
As soon as the journalistic investigation took the start NGOs made statements of absurd accusations.

The Editor-in-Chief states that the journalists of “Adjara P.S.” are not protected from the aggression of the NGOs and are trying to make the fact known to law enforcements.
