Drunken MP Threatened Patrol Police Officer with a Gun

Tbilisi.16.11.04. Media News. In the evening of November 15 the Patrol Police stopped a car in Djavakhishvili Street for violation of traffic rules; Nika Kvezereli, single mandate constituency of Gurdjaani was in the car. Drunken Kvezereli interrupted the conversation of the Patrol Police officer and the driver. After introducing himself he asked the officer the reason of stopping the car and as he found out that they had been stopped for breaking of traffic rules he hurled a verbal insult on the officer, then he took out his gun and threatened him. The Patrol Police took Nika Kvezereli to Mtatsminda-Krtsanisi Police Department.

The MP was released in the morning of November 16 after his inspection on drug addiction and interrogation. After leaving the Police Department Nika Kvezereli stated that he turned out to be in the Department because he had been interested in what was going on in the system.

Nika Kvezereli was pardoned by Eduard Shevardnadze two years ago. He was imprisoned for implementation of terrorist act on Eduard Shevardnadze, the president of Georgia on August 29, 1995. Kvezereli had been the leader of special operation team “Alfa”.
