Garbage Storage Place in Bakuriani

Tbilisi.22.11.04.Media News. Non Governmental Organizations working on environmental issues in Georgia protest the decision of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to open a garbage storage place in Borjomi Region, namely in Bakuriani. Among the participating NGOs are the Union “Lobo” for the Protection of the Environment and the Rights of Animals, the Institute of Law and Ecology as well as the Caucasian Network of Environmental NGOs.
According to a statement spread by the NGO representatives, the issue of placing the storage place in Bakuriani should have been a point for public discussion. Instead,  the Ministry arrived at the decision without even having introduced the evaluation report on the environmental influence of such a project. 
For this reason the NGOs consider the decision of the Ministry illegal. Under such circumstances they suspect that one cannot exclude the possibility of toxic remains being placed in the Bakuriani Storage place.
The NGO representatives demand from the Ministry to stop the procedure of the issue of the required license of environmental protection for the construction of the storage place on the territory of Bakuriani.
