Parliament Management Denies the Existence of the "Group for
Friendship of Caucasian Nations"

Tbilisi, 1/30/05, Media-News. The press service for Georgian Parliament has denied existence of the "Group for the friendship of Caucasian Nations".

"The press service of the Parliament of Georgia expresses its concern and considers it important to declare that any group of the parliament can be established on the basis of a decree by parliament approved at the plenary session. The press service of the Georgian Parliament declares that there is no official "parliamentary group for friendship with
Chechens".

According to the press service, it is in accord with the basic principles of  international law and common respect of independent states that Georgia will not intervene in the internal affairs of sovereign states.

"The group, mentioned by Mass Media, is created by the individual MPs and works independently.  This was criticized by the Chairperson of the Parliament at a meeting at which Mass Media was present,"read the press service statement.

The statement concerning the formation of the "Group for Friendship of Caucasian Nations" was recently issued by the deputies of Conservative party - Kahka Kukava, Zviad Dzidziguri and Koba Davitashvili.
