The Employers of Ajara TV have Resigned

Tbilisi. 03.03.05. Media News. Nato Imedaishvili, the head of the newsroom of Ajara TV has resigned. According to the information spread, some other workers of the TV Company have left the job. Imedaishvili told to media News that nobody from the newsroom worked on March 3. She urges that the reason of her resignation was the pressure by the side of Zaza Khalvashi, the chairman of the TV Company.

“There was censure on every plot and programme. I think that I made a right step as the society expect from us to say the truth. We fought against the regime of Aslan Abashidze and for freedom of expression”- stated Imedaishvili.

She is sure that censorship does not come from the government.
She claims that TV Company has the censorship itself. “It is not possible the head of the TV Company to be afraid of very critical plot or programme and make an excuse for it” – Imedaishvili said.

She says that one of the reasons of her resignation is that her husband resigned from the position of the secretary manager of the National Movement in Ajara several days before.

When speaking with Media News, the head of the Ajara TV Zaza Khalvashi refused the allegation of Nata Imedaishvili and stated that there was no pressure or censorship on the news agency by his side.

The media representatives in Ajara organized a protest action in support of the workers of Ajara TV. According to the protesters, the censorship on Ajara TV should come to the end.

Journalists demand the meeting with Levan Varshalomidze, the chairman of the Ajarian government and clear up the situation. Though, Levan Varshalomidze did not meet the protestors. Koba Khabadzi, the Healthcare Minister of Ajara met the protestors and promised to study the situation.
