Goods Exported from Georgia Face the Danger of Being not Received

Tbilisi.14.04.05 Media News. The leader of the Green Movement, Georgi Gachechiladze protests against the part of the President’s anti-bureaucratic project, according to which the phito-sanitarian control will be canceled at customs. However, if it is necessary, the phito- sanitarian control will take place only for once.

According to Giorgi Gachechiladze, fito-sanitation service controls the security of exported and imported goods at the customs of any country to insure that the products don’t contain any of the culprits of the diseases that can damage the flora of the country. Not only the goods are checked at the customs but the package materials as well.

“In case of canceling this control, the entire agriculture of Georgia, health of people and natural diversity, which is still preserved, will be in peril”-said Gachechiladze. He also noted that there is the International Convention - “Agreement on Conditions of Controlling Goods at Borders” that was ratified by the Parliament of Georgia in1998.

“Under this international treaty all countries, including Georgia, are obliged to have a sanitation service at customs. This means that it is the international obligation and annulling it is the violation of international norms. On the other hand, the import and export in Georgia will be suspended, because without a special certificate from the phito-sanitation service, goods exported from our country will not be received by either of the countries. In the meantime none of the countries will import products into Georgia without having this certificate” – declared Georgi Gachechiladze
