More Georgian Peacekeepers to be Sent to Iraq

Tbilisi.13.05.05 Media News. 300 new Georgian troops are going to Iraq to replace the contingent based in Bakuba.

There are currently 858 Georgian troops serving the peacekeeping mission in Iraq. 558 of them are in Baghdad, while there are 300 soldiers in Bakuba who are changed periodically. This most recent group, the Ground Battalion of the First Brigade of the Defense Ministry, will be the fifth detachment of soldiers that Georgia will send to Bakuba.

The Georgian troops will first go to Kabul, Afghanistan, then on to Bakuba probably around 18-20th of May.

News
