Liberty Institute Challenges General Prosecutior’s Office

Tbilisi.23.05.05. Media News. The Liberty Institute has made a move opposing the General Prosecutor’s Office.

The representatives of nongovernmental organizations demand that Mamuka Davithnidze, the head of one of the units of the Isani-Samgori Police Department, be brought to justice.

Mamuka Chubinidze, arrested on August 9, 2004, was cruelly beaten by law enforcers at the District Police Department, but nobody was punished. “The General Prosecutor’s Office plays the role of patron to these perpetrator policemen,” stated Liberty Institute representative Tea Shubladze.

According to medical expert Maka Jishkariani, Mamuka Chubinidze suffered from many bruises, different kinds of injuries, and a concussion of the brain.
