Seminar on the Monitoring of  Torture Facts in the Jails


Tbilisi.19.07.05.MediaNews. Today in the Hotel “Sheraton Metekhi Palace” the three-day seminar has opened, which is organized by Penal Reform International participating with the representatives of CPT (Committee for Prevention of Torture) of the Council of Europe and Bulgarian experts working in this field.

The Seminar is aimed for the preparation of Georgian Trainers, who must implement the monitoring of the torture facts in the jails and then the trainers themselves will prepare the local staff in this field.

As Ana Dolidze, the Chairman of Young Lawyers Association, stated to the “MediaNews”, according to the Report of the CPT, it is clear how regrettable situation is in Georgian jails.

At the seminar there were attended Human Rights Defender Georgian NGOs such as “Young Lawyers Association,” “Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights”, “Article 42 of the constitution”, etc.
