Nana Kakabadze Demands Freedom for Inmates

15.11.2005, “Media News” – The non-governmental organization “Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights” calls the Georgian Parliament to start working on a project of general amnesty.

According to Nana Kakabadze, many people are imprisoned due to artificially fabricated accusations. The government also acknowledges this.

“The members of government recognize that torture in prisons and the illegal planting of weapons and drugs to inmates took place in 2004. Despite that fact, many people are still imprisoned. We call the parliament to start working on a project of general amnesty of those people who were sent to jails because of deliberate acts by the police”- said Kakabadze.

She also admitted that a general amnesty should not cover the prisoners who are accused of robbery and murder.
