Lawyers against Chairman of the Supreme Court

21.11.05, “Media News” – Three lawyers have complained against the Chairman of the Supreme Court and Chairman of the High Council of Justice.

Nino Gvenetadze, former Chairman of the circuit court, Davit Sulaqvelidze and Merab Turava speak about a disciplinary persecution organized against them. All three of them state that persecution has begun after they several times refused to make rulings following preliminary orders.

“After this, people from High Council of Justice contacted me and said that a disciplinary case has started against me. They said nothing about the reasons. Later on they called me again, saying that the hearing of my case will start on Tuesday at 6 o’clock. Such activities are out of the  normal and violate human rights,”- said lawyer Turava.

The cases of the lawyers will be put on the agenda today at the Disciplinary Board.

Yesterday, the mentioned lawyers have arranged a news conference in cooperation with non-governmental organizations
