IDPs Tried to Block Street in Front of State Chancellery

13.12.2005, “Media News” –IDPs living in the territory of the Tbilisi sea, held a protest in front of the State Chancellery of Georgia. They protested against the fact that their electricity was switched off more than a year ago because of incurred debts.

According to representatives of the Telasi Public Relations Department, two hundred spots are left without electricity now.

“The fee for their electricity is covered from the state budget, 600 thousand Lari is available for this every month. The IDPs have exceeded this limit by an amount of 450 thousand Lari in November 2005. They do not want to pay this money or have a meeting with Telasi. We agree to give them a schedule for paying the bills over time,”- said Valery Pantsulaia.

The protesters tried to block the street in front of the State Chancellery, but their effort was suppressed by the police patrol. The State Minister of Conflict Resolutions George Khaindrava met the protesters and promised them to inform the Prime Minister about their problem.
