Human Rights Defenders Hold a Protest in Front of the General Prosecutor’s Office

10.01.2006, “Media News” – The Defender of Human and Prisoner’s Rights organization demands the reaction from the General Prosecutor’s Office about the recent prison situations.

Today, the organization will send an appeal to the General Prosecutor’s. “Hundreds of inmates have been on the hunger strike over two months. In addition, we have information about several beaten and injured inmates. Unfortunately, processes in the penitential system are not transparent and people do not have objective information about the processes,” states the organization’s official letter.

The organization demands that Zurab Adeishvili, General Prosecutor of Georgia, take the mentioned processes under his control. The reason for the protest held in front of the General Prosecutor’s Office was for the same.
