Parents of the University Entrants Sue in the Court

10.01.06, “Media News” – The parents of Ketevan Kimeridze, who participated in the entrance exams in 2005, are going to sue the Ministry of Education and Science.

According to Makhvala Barbakadze, mother of Kimeridze, by decree #657 of the Ministry of Education and Science, the first 55 students in the list were granted scholarships from the state, while the students, who had the same grades, were put in an unequal situation.

The parent of the student explains: “50 grants were given to students, who had grades above 500. However, only 5 students with grade 500 (there were 12 of them) got the scholarship." Ketevan Kimeridze, who left without a scholarship, also had a score of 500. No selection from the 12 students with the same grades has been made.

Kimeridze is going to sue against the Ministry of Science and Education. Earlier, she sent a letter to the Minister Lomaia on the 14th of December, but she has not received an answer yet. “My letter was sent to the Ministry of Education and Science from the Legal Department of the Chancellery. If case my demands are not met, I am going to sue against them in the court,”says Makvala Barbakadze.
