Traders from Telavi Protest against Being Obliged to Have Cash Registers and Begin Street Protests

On the 16th of February, street traders from Telavi held a protest in front of the Local Governance Building. They protested against being made to have cash registers and demanded help from the regional administration.

Their demands were very flat and emotional. “We are not even a developing country. We stand in the streets the whole day to earn a small amount of money to live on… But, I think, the government wants to starve every citizen to death”, declared demonstrator Naira Grdzelishvili.

Despite attempts by the regional administration, negotiations failed. “We have not gathered here, to listen speeches about the necessity of having cash registers. We want to find out the truth; our children also need food, clothes, education and a normal life”.

Traders from Telavi have already written a letter to the Parliament. They will continue the protest, until their demands are met.
