The Russian Helicopter Flew Over the Military Base of Senaki

On the 21st of February, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. the "МИ-8" type helicopter of the Russian Peace Forces illegally flew into Georgian air space.

Eye-witnesses say, the helicopter made three circles over the Georgian Military Base and afterwards flew in the direction of Sokhumi.

"This was a Russian military helicopter. I have seen it before too. A military shell can be fixed onto the helicopter. Probably they wanted to frighten us. It was "МИ-8". I read it with my own eyes", states inhabitant Givi Gabisonia.

There were lots of other eye-witnesses who saw the Russian helicopter that appeared in daylight, the inhabitants of Senaki as well as the staff of the military base. It was not a problem for most of them to identify the helicopter.
