The Georgian Times Demands Resignation of Interior Minister’s Top Spokesman

"The Georgian Times" newspaper demands resignation of Guram Donadze, Head of Press Service of Georgian Interior Ministry.

Giorgi Kapanadze, editor-in-chief of the newspaper presented a taped phone conversation at the press conference on Thursday, featuring Guram Donadze swearing at Maia Margvelani, journalist of the newspaper, as the latter was trying to get some information over the murder of Sandro Girgvliani (she asked Donadze whether he had been questioned in connection with that case).

According to Giorgi Kapanadze, it was not the first time when Guram Donadze was humiliating the journalists. “He even dared to physically abuse them”, Giorgi Kapanadze said.

Donadze called Giorgi Kapanadze a "hooligan", "parasite", "impudent fellow" and "person having criminal mentality", saying that such a behavior from a public official was intolerable.

"The Georgian Times" plans to bring an action against Guram Donadze and demand apologies from him.

Giorgi Kapanadze noted that it was "The Georgian Times" that first featured the suspicious details of  Sandro Girgvliani's murder, indicating alleged involvement of several high-standing officials, including Guram Donadze, in that crime.
