TV Company “Trialeti” Talks about Intimidation

The head of the News Department, of TV Company “Trialeti” (in Shida Kartli), Sophiko Rezrichenko, talks about pressure from Gori Tax Inspection.  According to her, the deputy of Gori Tax Inspection, George Basilashvili, is threatening to punish the TV Company, for tax evasion. However, Rezrichenko is sure that this pressure has been caused by media coverage of the traders’ strikes.

George Basilashvili did not comment on the above. According to the head of Gori Tax Inspection, David Mechiauri, not only “Trialeti”, but every organization is obliged to submit details of their accounts to Tax Inspection. If these demands are not met, the financial police will investigate the organization – something that is not very pleasant experience. Mechiauri says that the TV Company has yet to submit its tax returns but a raid on the company is not planned at the moment.
