Tax Inspection Causes Gori Newspaper Financial Problems

Tax Inspection Causes Gori Newspaper Financial Problems

Gori local newspaper “Lomchabuki” is closing. The only issue of the newspaper, financed from a local budget of 13 thousand GEL annually, was published in February. The name of the newspaper has also changed twice over the last year. The name of the newspaper for years was “Goris Moambe” and it was then later changed to “Lomchabuki”. The paper’s new name was not even registered and no official documents were signed. The representatives of the administration say that in March the name will again be changed, however the title has not yet been chosen.

According to the Deputy Local Governor, Tamar Edisherashvili, the paper’s staff members are irresponsible and cannot even solve the problems with Gori Tax Inspection. However, Edisherashvili also assured that “Lomchabuki” will not be closed. It is still unknown how the funds, granted for publishing the February issues, will be spent.
