Two Suspects Die in the Centre of Tbilisi During Special Operation

Tbilisi, 02.05.06, ‘Media News’ – The Criminal Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia held a special operation in the centre of Tbilisi today. During the operation two suspects were killed and one was injured.

According to Shota Khizanishvili, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, three people, who were driving a BMW, were suspected of committing several crimes. “One of them is an infamous criminal; the other was just released from prison. During the special operation, they opened fire on the police; one police officer was slightly injured. Two of the suspects died and one was injured,” said Khizanishvili.

The names of the suspects will be announced later.

“I think that such operations should be planned and implemented in the right way - so that society should not wonder, if the police officers were right or not,” believes the head of Human Rights Committee, Elene Tevdoradze.
