Announcement of ‘New Righters’

Announcement of ‘New Righters’

The fact that the Patriarch of Georgia visited prisons in Tbilisi, once again shows that the state should pay more attention to the citizens of Georgia - whose rights are being violated. We want to remind the Georgian government that every democratic government respects the rights of prisoners and that this in no way assists the criminal underworld.

One month has passed since the bloody special operation in Tbilisi Jail #5. The government abused its strength, causing the deaths of prisoners.

The president of the OSCE recommended that the Georgian government establishes an independent investigation team. That is what we, the opposition and Georgian NGOs demand. Despite this, the government has not yet started an independent investigation.

We call upon the international community to force the Georgian government to investigate the bloody ‘special operation’ in Jail #5, to defend the rights of prisoners in the jails and to stop the inhuman treatment of inmates.
