Bezhan Gvazava Sentenced to Two Months Pre-Trial Detention

Tbilisi. 30.05.06. Media News. The Zugdidi District Court has sentenced Bezhan Gvazava to two months pre-trial detention. He was detained two days ago by the police.

Bezhan Gvadzava and Roin Kardava, supporters of the ex-President Zviad Gamsakhurdia, were detained near the youth camp in Zugdidi. They are charged with illegally transporting weapons.

The court was not satisfied with Bezhan Gvadzava’s plea-bargaining and both detainees were sentenced to pre-trial detention.

Bezhan Gvadzava and his gang had been hiding in the forest for years - they only reconciled with the government in 2004.
