Traders Held Protest in Rustavi

Rustavi, 02.06.06, 'Media News' – Traders from the so called ‘Istanbul Bazaar’ held a protest in Rustavi. They protested against increasing taxes and demanded an improvement of working conditions.

The Rustavi mayor David Nadashvili is sure, that the meeting between market administration and the municipality will be successful. “We will discuss the demands of the traders during the meeting and I am sure we will find consensus”, said Nadashvili.

The protest is supported by the Labour Party. The Secretary General of the party Iosef Shatberashvili also joined the protesters.

“These people demand an improvement of working conditions and an improvement in the sanitary situation on the site of the market. We decided to establish an ‘initiative’ group, who will have meetings with lawyers in Labour Party Tbilisi Office. If we are not able to protect their rights through the courts, we will continue protesting”, declared Iosef Shatberashvili.
