Lecturer Vs. Head of Telavi State University

June 28, 2006

Lecturer Vs. Head of Telavi State University

“Telavi University is ruled by the mafia and the ghost of Neo-Nazism is walking in this building,” declares Eldino Djangulashvili, a lecturer from Telavi State University. She made the statement on the 26th of June, after an election to decide the heads of departments.

The professors and lecturers of the University participated in elections. Eldino Dgangulashvili was defeated by her colleague Nino Nakhutsrishvili, who collected more votes.

Nino Nakhutsrishvili thinks that the elections were fair and independent and thanks her colleagues for their support. A big majority of the professors in Telavi State University also believed the elections were independent. Giorgi Gotsiridze, the Head of the University, shares the same attitude towards the election procedure.

However Eldino Dgangulishvili talks about un-objective elections and accuses the Head of the University of being responsible for the events taking place in there.

“After electing Gotsiridze as Head of the University, the ghost of Neo-Nazism now stalks the University. Gotsiridze is a son of the Mafia,” declares Dgangulishvili.

According to Gotsiridze, Gangulashvili’s accusations are not fair and states that Ganjulashvili was appointed as Head of the Pedagogic Department during the period that he has been Head. “Gangulashvili was dismissed because she could not fulfill her duties - which are important while electing someone to an academic post,” stated Gotsiridze.

Eldino Gangulashvili is sure that Nino Nakhutsrishvili’s victory was pre-planned and that on the 26th of June “everything developed according to a previously prepared scenario”.

Gangulashvili intends to sue the Head of the University.
