NGOs Demand to Broadcast Girgvliani’s Case

Tbilisi, 29.06.06, ’Media News’ – On of the main eye-witness of Girgvliani’s murder, Tatia Maisuradze was examined in Tbilisi City Court today. Representatives of NGOs and opposition parties, who are monitoring the case, also attended the trial.

Georgian Young Lawyer’s Association proposed to put a big monitor outside the hall to broadcast the trial. According to Anna Dolidze, the head of GYLA the court should organize the trial better to avoid criticism from the society. “The Court should provide microphones for judges and witnesses, because it is almost impossible to hear their voices in the hall. It would be nice to broadcast the trial via internet, which is technically quite easy. It will help to discharge the tension,” – declares Dolidze.

Another NGO ‘Egalitarian Institute’ demands to punish two friends of Gia Alania, one of the accused persons, who tried to perturb the process of trial. Irakli Kakabadze, the head of ‘Egalitarian Institute’ plans to send an appeal to the General Prosecutor Zura Adeishvili demanding to find out the names of two people and punish them.

Kakabadze also thanked all MPs and high-rank officials, who support Girgvliani’s family and his NGO. Among such people were Elene Tevdoradze, Goga Khaindrava, Maya Nadiradze and others.
