The Head of Central Election Committee Denies Tinatin Khidasheli’s Accusations

Tbilisi, 29.08.2006, ‘Media News’ – Guram Chalagashvili, the head of Central Election Committee denies accusations of Tinatin Khidasheli, member of Republic Party. Khidasheli thinks that competition, choosing the members of Central Election Committee is illegal.

According to Khidasheli, Election Committee did not have the regulation for competition that violated article 37 of electoral codex.

“Rules and regulations for the competition are defined by the commission. As for the second contest, the rules and regulations should be determined by the Central Election Committee, it is said in the legislation. CEC has determined it on yesterday’s meeting,” – declared Guram Chalagashvili.

The second competition for regional electoral committees was announced on the 28th of August. Commissions will be chosen before 30th of August.
