Protest against New Construction

September 27, 2006

New construction has been laid foundation in Zugdidi. The constructions of children’s (and not only for children) entertaining attractions have been started on the territory of the Dadiani’s Palace and the Church to Vlakerni Godmother. As far as the public has been informed so-called ‘Ferr’s Wheel’, a swimming pool and other fitness tools will be placed here. “-It is certainly good intention, but the problem is where it should be set up”-the representatives from the Zugdidi branch of Salome Zurabishvili’s party ‘Sakartvelos Gza’ state.

On the 23rd September Nana Todua Zugdidi office coordinator of the party made a declaration to the local journalists and stated that construction of the attractions on the place is inadmissible. According to her it will damage the buildings of the Dadianis’ palace and the church. N. Todua states that Salome Zurabishvili has met and spoken to Bishop Gerasime, Episcope of the Zugdidi-Tsaishi Eparchy. They started the protest after having received the consecration from him. The party has already started to get signatures on the petition against construction.
