Traders from Gori Urge for help

November 28, 2006

Patrol police has dispersed traders from the area of Gori market in Guramishvili Street. Consequently, those people urged 'GHN' for help.

Neli Shavdatuashviil, one of the traders said the following: "We have been trading in the area for nine years now. Former chiefs of the patrol police also banned us to trade here. We appealed the administrative board and they allowed us to stay. Now, the board of the patrol police has been changed and they have dispersed us. However, we impeded neither traffic nor the walkers. We applied to Zura Egadze, the chief of the patrol police, but he did not pay attention to us. We have informed the Public Defender, Sozar Subari too. Every street is occupied by traders in the town, and only Guramishvili Street is an exception. Patrol policemen use to come and laugh at us. They disperse us on the basis of no warrant."
