Traders Were Not Allowed To Trade Near The Delisi Underground Station in Tbilisi

January 24, 2007

This morning, traders were not allowed to trade near the Delisi underground station. The Tbilisi Metropolitan Administration and security service officers did not let them trade in the area. The traders protest the decision of the City Hall and demand alternative locations to practice their activities.

“We were turned into IDPs for the second time. In fact we are left without our minimum income. They deprived us from our allowances and very soon they will cease aiding us. We will stay in a very obscure situation. If this government does not need us, let them tell us directly and we will disappear somewhere,” said Sveta Nadaraia, an IDP from Sukhumi in her conversation with the GHN.

Nearly 40 traders traded in the area of the Delisi underground station and most of them were IDPs from Abkhazia.
