At Protest Demonstrations Release of Jaba Jishkariani Will Be Demanded

Tbilisi. 20.03.07. Media News. Members of the Egalitarian Institute are going to hold protest demonstrations where they will demand the law enforcement bodies to release Jaba Jishkariani, a representative of their institute. Jishkariani was detained because of disrespect to the court and the judge sentenced him to 30-day-imprisonemnt.

Levan Gogichaishvili, a member of the above-mentioned NGO said in his conversation with the Media News, that initially they intend to appeal against the verdict.

“We will definitely appeal against the court verdict and then we will appeal against the court bailiffs who had assaulted the journalists and ordinary people who were in the hall during the trial,” said Gogichaishvili.

Gogichaishvili added that another member of the Egalitarian Institute, Zurab Rtveliashvili went on a hunger-strike regarding the situation.

Jaba Jishkariani was detained at the trial of juvenile accused, Giorgi Zerekidze, whom the court sentenced to seven-year-imprisonment. Jishkariani was blamed for disrespect to the court.
