Jaba Jishkariani’s Lawyer Appealed to the Supreme Court

Tbilisi. 21.03.07. Media News. Yesterday, Maka Meladze, a lawyer for Jaba Jishkariani, a member of the Egalitarian Institute brought suit at the Supreme Court. She demanded the court to discuss the legality of Jishkariani’s detention.

Meladze said that her client Jishkariani was detained through breaching the law. Under the Article 208, a person is initially warned if s/he violates the court order, in repeated disprder the judge dismisses him/her from the court room and finally, only in the third occasion the offender is detained.

According to the lawyer, Jishkariani was detained without any previous warnings. Meladze added that her client was arrested without any corresponding reports and was locked in one of the court rooms during four hours.

On March 19, Jishkariani was arrested after court hearing on Giorgi Zerekidze was over. Jishkariani was sentenced to thirty-day-imprisonment for having breached order at the trial.
