Court Interrogated Witness for Kvitsiani’s Case for the Second Time

March 29, 2007
Yesterday, court hearing on Nora Kvitsiani-Arghvliani’s case was renewed at the Gali-Gulrifshi Court. The court interrogated witness Temur Chkhetiani for the second time. On March 19 the witness was detained for having made two contradicting testimonies and judge sentenced him to two-month pretrial imprisonment. Later on, the prosecutor produced Chkhetiani’s application to the court where the witness urged for the permission of making the third testimony. He wrote that he was going to repeat the initial statement he had made during the preliminary investigation. However, yesterday, Chkhetiani confirmed his previous testimony he had made at the trial in Kvitsiani’s favor and said that he had written the application according to the policemen’s orders. Those policemen promised to release him if he wrote the application. The trial will be renewed on April 3. Nana Sajaia, Zugdidi
