“We are people whom everybody has abandoned. Thus we are going to take care of ourselves and nobody will resist us,” said IDPs residing in Kutaisi publicly. Initially they appeal to the state government. The IDPs complain about their eviction from the hotel Kutaisi. The process of eviction started last week and it is going on slowly and boisterously.
“People are cheated out of the hotel. They are not ashamed of anything and carrying out the furniture by day and night. They have emptied the hotel and do not ask us anything. Nobody cares about us. We cannot imagine anyone else has endured more tragedy. Our life is worse than death,” said Shota Milorava, an IDP from Abkhazia.
He and his neighbors applied to the Human Rights Center’s Kutaisi office for help. The IDPs said that they are mostly insulted by the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation. Those people have applied to Minister Giorgi Kheviashvili several times, though in vain.
The Kutaisi Civil Court has not discussed the appeal of the IDPs against the Interinvest, the owner of the hotel. The deadline to leave the hotel for IDPs was on May 1. However, they say that they are not going to leave the place. “They have done everything to make us fed up with the situation and leave the place but we will not do that. Effluent disposal line went wrong in the hotel and the water leaks in the rooms. That did not happen accidentally. However, we are not going to give in,” said people who are abandoned by everyone.
