Law Enforcers Will Investigate the Kidnapping of Georgian Citizen in Azerbaijan

Eka Zghuladze, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, stated that the fact of kidnapping Georgian citizen Pavle Kopaleishvili in Azerbaijan will be seriously investigated.

Today, after the governmental session Eka Zghuladze discussed the news item broadcast by Public Broadcaster with journalists. The item revealed the story of kidnapping Kopaleishvili who later became a victim of trafficking.

According to the deputy Minister, Georgia occupied the third tier regarding according to trafficking categories during previous years. Then it moved to the second tier and now occupies the first one. Consequently, the situation has considerably improved in the field.

The US State Department grants the countries with corresponding categories according to the number of facts of trafficking.

“Georgia is one of the successful countries both in legal field and in the fight against trafficking as well as in relevant sanctions. The problem is one of most urgent in Georgia and neither this particular case will remain without attention,” said Zghuladze.
