Eka Beselia: Government Forced Irakli Okruashvili to Leave Georgia

November 1, 2007
Representatives of the United Opposition claim that the government forced the former Defense Minister, Irakli Okruashvili, to leave Georgia.

Eka Beselia, member of the “Movement for United Georgia”, stated that governmental officials visited Okruashvili at home and threatened him; they gave him French Visa and passport and sent to France.

Beselia claims that employees of Bacho Akhalaia, the head of the Penitentiary Department, were those people who visited Okruashvili at home last night.

Beselia defined that during their last meeting Okruashvili officially stated that he was going to make a speech at the protest demonstration in front of the parliament on November 2.

Kakha Shartava, the head of the National Forum, called upon the Internal Ministry officials not to obey the orders of the government in order not to commit crime against their people.”
