Ayety Cable Company Renews Broadcasting All Suspended News Channels

November 9, 2007
The Ayety cable company has renewed broadcasting the 10 channels that were taken off air for about 30 hours. Nana Namoradze, the program manager at Aieti, said in her conversation with the Human Rights Center that the company director was called and ordered to replace 10 channels providing news with entertainment channels:

“I do not know who called our company, but outside that private exchange, there is an article in our charter that states in case of a state of emergency every informational channel must be shut down. We are a law-abiding company, so we immediately obeyed this order. As we offer 50 channels to our subscribers, we simply replaced the suspended channels with other ones.”
