Public Defender Calls Upon the International Organizations to Support Radio “Imedi”

November 20, 2007
On November 20 Georgian Public Defender, Sozar Subari applied to all international organizations to support the Radio “Imedi” which is fighting for resuming its broadcasting.

Subari made statement after his meeting with the board of the Radio “Imedi” and journalists.

The Public Defender stated that he had managed to resume the broadcasting of the Batumi TV Company “Channel 25” with the support of representatives of the European Union after the rule of emergency was lifted.

“On November 17, the second day after the emergency state was lifted, the representatives of the EU asked the governmental officials why the “Channel 25” was not allowed to go on its activities and it turned out that officials did not know that the TV Company was raided by the policemen. Fifteen minutes later Batumi TV Company resumed broadcasting,” said Subari.
