Employees of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia are examining the health of people injured during the demonstration held in November 7, 2007 and the issues related to their treatment.
The majority of citizens are satisfied with the medical aid provided. They also appreciate the qualified medical personnel who paid treated them.
But it remains unknown and unclear who will pay for the costs of previous or further medical aid. It is true that the hospital treatment costs of people injured during the November demonstration will be covered by the government, after patients are released from hospital. The additional costs of medicines, medical examinations and consultations in certain clinics should be covered by patient.
Patients encountered problems regarding the costs of medical treatment in Tbilisi Clinic # 1. The problem was solved after the clinic administration and representatives of the Public Defender interfered.
The Public Defender requested the Minister of Health, Labour and Social Welfare to give financial support for medical aid to the people injured during the demonstration held in November 7, 2007.
