Empty Batumi-Tbilisi Train

November 26, 2007

Passengers encountered problems about train tickets again. On November 24 and 25 the tickets were not sold at the booking offices of the Railway Station and the reason was almost sold out tickets. However, almost empty train left for Tbilisi.

Nino from Batumi, who learns at a high school in Tbilisi, traveled to Tbilisi in the compartment for the attendant. “The cashier told me that there were no more tickets but the train was almost empty. Today I had to be in the capital and I paid the money to the train attendant for his compartment.” As for the attendant he slept in the empty compartment for passengers.

Sudden disappearance of tickets was motivated by the same factor as it happened on November 2 when people, wanting to travel to Tbilisi from Adjara to attend the peaceful demonstration, were hindered.
