Giorgi Zhvania: the Government Intends to Arrest Patarkatsishvili’s Supporters

Giorgi Zhvania, the head of the election headquarter of the presidential candidate Badri Patarkatsishvili, said that the government plans to arrest the supporters of their candidate.

Zhvania said that representatives of the government call them criminals and “speak about imaginary version of the state overthrow.” Patarkatsishvili’s supporters are summoned to the Department for Constitutional Security within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and are suppressed. During one of similar occasions, Berikishvili, a resident of the village of Tsilkani in Mtskheta District died as a result of physical and psychological oppression by governmental officials.

Giorgi Zhvania claimed that government intends to imitate withdrawal of weapon from the offices and houses of Patarkatsishvili’s supporters. It happened on December 28 when explosion equipment was installed in the Chugureti district Poll Station.

“Representatives of Badri Patarkatsishvili’s election office state that they did not have any information about Valeri Gelbakhiani’s (the former head of Patarktsishvili’s election headquarters) conversation with Irakli Kodua, the head of the Special Operative Department. Consequently, other supporters of Patarkatsishvili cannot be blamed for any kind illegal activities. They are not getting ready for riot on January 6,” said Zhvania.

The supporters of Badri Patarkatsishvili appeals to the diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia as well as human rights organizations and media sources to carry out all necessary activities to eradicate the violence from the government.
