Nestan Kirtadze:Today Is Planned the Elimination of Shalva Natelashvili

January 8, 2008

The election headquarters of Shalva Natelashvili, Labor Party presidential candidate, has made public information they have received that  an attempt will be made on Natelashvili’s life after 8 p.m. on January the 8th.

As Nestan Kirtadze, a representative from Natelashvili’s campaign headquarters stated, they received word yesterday that their presidential candidate was the target of an assassination attempt. Today, Kirtadze says, they confirmed that an operation was underway to eliminate Natelashvili. "It seems that the Government of Georgia prefers to follow the so-called Palestinian model and have prepared the operation with the code name ‘Bkhuto,’” Kirtadze states.

Natelashvili’s headquarters is demanding than an investigation into these threats be opened immediately. Natelashvili’s staff is also demanding special police protection be given to the former candidate, with calls for special watch posts to be opened at the office of the Labor Party and at Natelashvili’s home. "Mikhail Saakashvili and the Government of Georgia will be responsible for the oncoming events," Kirtadze says.
