Human Rights Center Demands Election Results in Nine Kakheti Polling Stations be Invalidated

January 8, 2008

On January 5th, observers from the Human Rights Center filed official complaints to the Precinct Election Commission regarding blatant violations of the Election Code in the Kakheti Region.

Lawyers for the Center are demanding that the results at nine polling stations in the area be invalidated. Telavi Polling Station # 1 of the Telavi PEC, two polling stations in Gulgula and Karajala villages, polling stations in the villages of Kardenakhi, Velistsikhe, Vachnadzeani and Gurjaani PS # 47 of the Gurjaani PEC; and Chantliskuri polling station in Kvareli PEC are all subject to the Human Rights Center’s complaint.

If the complaints from the Human Rights Center are not satisfied, lawyers for the Center will appeal against Commission decisions in court.
