January 11, 2008
Former Georgian Defense Minister, Irakli Okruashvili, was transported to Paris from Germany. Attorney Eka Beselia reported to the Medianews about her departure to France where she would be able to get acquainted with French legislation.

Beselia defined that court hearings on the former Defense Minister would be held in France and consequently the verdict would be passed there too.

Irakli Okruashvili was arrested in Berlin late in November.
It is noteworthy that Irakli Okruashvili requested political shelter from French government. Last week German government decided to transfer Okruashvili to France that is envisaged by the European legislation. French government had already issued visa on the former Defense Minister.

Eka Beselia supposes that French government will soon satisfy the request of the Irakli Okruashvili on political shelter.

Law enforcers arrested former Defense Minister on September 27. He was accused for misusing his power, extortion, money laundering and negligence. On October 8 he was released under bail and on November 1 he left Georgia for Germany. On November 14 the Georgian court made decision on his detention. German law enforcers satisfied the request of Georgian colleagues and arrested Irakli Okruashvili in Berlin on November 27.
