Former Employee Constitutional Security Department back to Prison

February 6, 2008
On February 5, Giorgi Chikovani, former employee of the Constitutional Security Department (CSD), was accused having rape a person, and was returned to the prison. The bail was fixed at 50 thousand GELS. This amount was fixed on January 15 2008 in the judge’s quarters. However, the bail was then revoked and the accused was returned to prison pending his next day in court.

The reason for the amended verdict was Chikovani’s absence at the trial on February 4 (failure to appear) Davit Chavleishvili, the attorney of the accused, produced the certificate of the “Republic Hospital Ltd’ to the court which stated that Chikovani was under the care of the therapy department on the hospital in the same morning of February 4 and could not physically make it to court.

Prosecutor Davit Charbadze stated that they had real grounds to revoke the bail as the crime was very serious and of a violent nature.
