March 25, 2008

The hunger strike in front of the Georgian parliament continues. Today the members of the National Council and political party, New Rights held meeting in front of the Parliament.

Rustaveli Avenue is blocked at the moment. The members of the National Council stated that they would start a night watch to keep the avenue blocked.

Two members of the New Rights Dato Ujmajuridze and Lasha Narchemashvili stopped hunger striking last night because of the low sugar level in their body. Pikria Chikhradze, member of the New Rights stated that both former hunger strikers are already at home.

The health condition of Zviad Dzidziguri is very poor. He has blood pressure 90/80 and immediate medical treatment.

The United National Council plans to hold a demonstration today at about 6 p.m. It is planned to picket both parliament building and the State Chancellery. “Our demands have not changed.  The memorandum of 17 points is still in force. The hunger strike will continue until our demands are upheld,” stated Goga Khaindrava.
