Three Members of the United Opposition Assaulted

Mamuka Kvaratskhelia, Boris Dzanashvili, the former United Opposition candidate for Khashuri who ran as a single mandate MP and Zaza Narsaia- all three members of the United Opposition were physically assaulted sometime last night.

Beso Sarjveladze, an activist of the United Opposition and a member of the political party “Movement for the United Georgia” told Medianews, the news agency that Mamuka Kvaratskhelia, is facing a very difficult condition. He is now in the Central Hospital department for intensive therapy for the time being.

“Kvaratskhelia was on his way to the Tbilisi International Airport when a car blocked his road on Shavi Zgva Street. Kvaratskhelia. He was then abducted from the car. He was later found this morning in the Vashlijvari forest near Tbilisi. He was severely beaten. The second incident occurred at the beginning of Varazis Khevi: a Volkswagen car hit Zaza Narsaia, an activist of the United Opposition,” told Beso Sarjveladze Medianews.

Sarjveladze states that Boris Dzanashvili, the third injured was the former United Opposition candidate for Khashuri single mandate MP. He was assaulted at his house by several men who wore masks. All three victims affiliate these assaults with the political payback.

Gia Tortladze, a member of the United Opposition was in the Central Hospital today. He wanted to see Mamuka Kvaratskhelia and Boris Dzanashvili but he told Medianews that the medical staff of the hospital did not allow him to the victims. 8 representatives of the United Opposition have been physically assaulted at this point. All 8 victims say that the assaulters had cars without license plates. All the victims contacted the police after the assault but the police chose not to react to the claimed attacks.  Consequently, it is clear that what happened to is a government’s order,” stated Tortladze.

As for Boris Dzanashvili, Khashuri single mandate MP candidate, he has been discharged from the hospital.
