Candidates elected through single mandate system, and based upon preliminary information, including candidates of the parties and election blocs who entered the parliament should provide the Georgian Central Election Code notification of having completed drug analysis within 14 days. Today is the deadline for this requirement.
According to the Article 107' of the Georgian Election Code, the notification should confirm that the MP candidate is not a drug-addict. Unless the candidate provides the notification on time or refuses to take a drug analysis the parliament will enact a resolution on depriving him/her from the membership of the parliament. Based on the resolution the CEC will pass a decree to annul the election results in the corresponding district which was represented by the particular MP and will fix a new polls in the district.
If the MP elected according to party lists refuses to take drug analysis the CEC then can decide to find his/her substitution from the list of the same party. Based on the current law, the person next on the list of the party will occupy the place of the canceled MP.
Most part of the MP candidates has already taken the drug test.
