Guards of Uplistsikhe Museum Sues Ministry of Culture

June 6, 2008

Guards of the Uplistsikhe Museum demand their salaries that have been held in arrears. Other than them, other employees of the museum have also not received their salaries. They have now appealed to various institutions with the request, which includes the administration of the regional governor; however, in spite of all efforts, it has been in vain.

One of the employees, Spiridon Miruashvili, died while waiting to be paid. The employees are waiting for salaries from the years of 1997 to 2007.

The museum’s personnel find that the only one way out to take their case to court. The Human Rights Centre will provide them with legal assistance in their efforts.

Saba Tsitsikashvili, Gori
